| Building Based Substitute Teacher | | BUILDING-BASED SUBSTITUTE TEACHER Reports To: Building Principal Position Summary The Building-Based Substitute Teacher is assigned to a specific school building and reports to work each scheduled school day. The employee provides instructional continuity by serving as a substitute teacher in classrooms as assigned by the Building Principal or designee. When not covering a classroom assignment, the Building-Based Substitute Teacher may assist with academic interventions, student supervision, small-group instruction, and other educational duties consistent with their certification and qualifications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Report to the assigned school building each workday and remain available for assignments throughout the school day.
- Assume responsibility for classroom instruction during the absence of the regular teacher.
- Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment.
- Take attendance and maintain appropriate student records as required.
- Follow established classroom management procedures and district policies.
- Supervise students during instructional periods and other assigned duties.
- Communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, support staff, students, and families as appropriate.
- Utilize instructional technology and district-approved resources to support student learning.
- When not assigned to a classroom, provide support services including:
- Small-group instruction;
- Academic intervention services;
- Student mentoring and support;
- Testing and assessment assistance;
- Coverage of study halls, lunch periods, or other supervisory assignments;
- Assistance with school-wide programs and activities.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student and staff information.
- Comply with all district policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
Qualifications - Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to varying grade levels, subject areas, and instructional settings.
Physical Requirements - Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the school building for extended periods.
- Ability to supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and other school settings.
Terms of Employment - Reports to the assigned school building each scheduled workday.
- Work schedule and compensation shall be established by the Board of Education and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
- Evaluation shall be conducted in accordance with district procedures.
