Plan and deliver standards-based Spanish language instruction aligned with district curriculum and New York State learning standards.

Teach Spanish language skills including listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Introduce students to the cultures, traditions, and history of Spanish-speaking countries.

Develop lesson plans that incorporate a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to engage students.

Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments and use data to guide instruction.

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.

Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Create and maintain a positive classroom environment that supports student engagement and respect for cultural diversity.

Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations.

Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, and support staff to support student success.

Participate in department meetings, faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities.

Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, and during school activities as assigned.

Support and implement school and district policies and procedures.

Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Foreign Language Education, or related field.

Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Spanish or World Languages.

Strong proficiency in written and spoken Spanish.

Knowledge of second language acquisition and effective instructional strategies for middle school learners.

Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.

Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom and school environment for extended periods.

Ability to use instructional technology and classroom equipment.

Classroom and school setting with frequent interaction with students, staff, and families.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or District Administration.

Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.

Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students with disabilities in inclusive, resource, or self-contained settings as assigned.

Adapt curriculum, instructional strategies, and materials to meet the individual needs of students.

Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and differentiated instruction.

Conduct ongoing assessments and collect data to monitor student progress toward IEP goals.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress reports and required special education records.

Participate in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings and contribute to the development and review of IEPs.

Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and program implementation.

Implement positive behavior supports and strategies to support student success.

Coordinate with related service providers such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and counselors.

Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities.

Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, playgrounds, and during school activities as assigned.

Support and implement school and district policies and procedures.

Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Valid State Teaching Certification in Special Education.

Knowledge of special education law, IEP development, and instructional strategies for students with disabilities.

Strong classroom management, collaboration, and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.

Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom and school environment for extended periods.

Ability to assist students with mobility or physical needs as required.

Occasional lifting of instructional materials or assisting students as necessary.
