Position Summary

The Cheektowaga Central School District is seeking a qualified and innovative Business Teacher to join the faculty at Cheektowaga Central High School. The successful candidate will provide engaging, relevant instruction that prepares students for college, careers, entrepreneurship, and responsible participation in an evolving economy.

The ideal candidate will connect classroom learning to real-world business practices while supporting the District’s Portrait of a Graduate competencies, including communication, collaboration, critical thinking, adaptability, and responsible citizenship.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver standards-aligned instruction in business-related courses.
  • Provide instruction in areas that may include personal finance, entrepreneurship, marketing, accounting, career readiness, business law, economics, and workplace technology.
  • Create engaging, project-based learning experiences that connect course content to authentic business and career applications.
  • Integrate technology and current business practices into classroom instruction.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the academic and developmental needs of all students.
  • Establish and maintain a safe, structured, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
  • Assess student learning and use assessment data to guide instruction.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, administrators, and community partners.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and District initiatives.
  • Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and other school-related responsibilities.
  • Support student involvement in extracurricular activities, clubs, competitions, and career-exploration opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building administration.

Qualifications

  • Valid New York State certification in Business and Marketing Education or another appropriate certification recognized by the New York State Education Department.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred or required within the applicable New York State certification timeline.
  • Knowledge of current instructional practices, educational technology, and career-readiness standards.
  • Strong classroom-management, communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
  • Experience teaching business-related courses at the secondary level preferred.
  • Experience developing partnerships with businesses, colleges, or community organizations is preferred.

Building Based Substitute Teacher

TITLE: Building-Based Substitute Teacher
LOCATION: Cheektowaga Central High School
WORK SCHEDULE: Ten-Month School Year

Position Summary

The Cheektowaga Central School District is seeking a dependable and qualified Building-Based Substitute Teacher for Cheektowaga Central High School. The successful candidate will report to the High School each scheduled school day and provide instructional coverage as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reports to Cheektowaga Central High School each scheduled school day.
  • Provides classroom coverage for absent teachers as assigned by the building administration.
  • Implements lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher.
  • Maintains a safe, structured, and respectful learning environment.
  • Supervises students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, or other assigned areas.
  • Follows all District policies, procedures, and building expectations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the building administration.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with high school students preferred.
  • Strong classroom-management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and administrators.

Terms of Employment

  • The Building-Based Substitute Teacher is expected to report daily in accordance with the District’s school calendar.
  • This position does not include health, dental, or other employee benefits.
  • The employee will receive one paid sick day for each completed month of service, subject to applicable District policies and regulations.
  • This is a temporary substitute position and does not lead to tenure or seniority rights.

Head Softball Coach

Cheektowaga Central is looking for a positive, outgoing individual to work with our athletes.  Must be able to get certified in First Aid, CPR and all requirements of becoming a NYS Certified coach.
