Position Title: High School Math Teacher
Location: High School
Reports To: Building Principal
Employment Status: Full-time, 10-month position

Position Summary

The High School Math Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging mathematics instruction that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. The teacher supports the academic development of students by implementing district curriculum, assessing student progress, and creating a classroom environment that fosters learning and achievement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver standards-based mathematics instruction aligned with district curriculum and state learning standards.

  • Teach assigned courses which may include Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, or other mathematics courses as assigned.

  • Develop lesson plans that promote conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and real-world application of mathematical principles.

  • Assess student learning through formative and sumative assessments and use data to guide instruction.

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with disabilities and English language learners.

  • Create and maintain a positive classroom environment that supports student engagement and academic success.

  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and performance.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, and support staff to support student success.

  • Participate in department meetings, faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities.

  • Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, and during school activities as assigned.

  • Support and implement school and district policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related field.

  • Valid State Teaching Certification in Mathematics.

  • Knowledge of secondary mathematics curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively engage high school students in rigorous mathematical learning.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom and school environment for extended periods.

  • Ability to use instructional technology and classroom equipment.

  • Occasional lifting of instructional materials or classroom supplies.

Work Environment

  • Classroom and school setting with frequent interaction with students, staff, and families.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or District Administration.
