| Math Teacher | | High School Math Teacher Job Description Cheektowaga Central High School Position Title: High School Math Teacher Location: High School Reports To: Building Principal Employment Status: Full-time, 10-month position Position Summary The High School Math Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging mathematics instruction that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. The teacher supports the academic development of students by implementing district curriculum, assessing student progress, and creating a classroom environment that fosters learning and achievement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities -
Plan and deliver standards-based mathematics instruction aligned with district curriculum and state learning standards. -
Teach assigned courses which may include Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, or other mathematics courses as assigned. -
Develop lesson plans that promote conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and real-world application of mathematical principles. -
Assess student learning through formative and sumative assessments and use data to guide instruction. -
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress. -
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with disabilities and English language learners. -
Create and maintain a positive classroom environment that supports student engagement and academic success. -
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and performance. -
Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, and support staff to support student success. -
Participate in department meetings, faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities. -
Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, and during school activities as assigned. -
Support and implement school and district policies and procedures. Qualifications -
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related field. -
Valid State Teaching Certification in Mathematics. -
Knowledge of secondary mathematics curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment practices. -
Strong classroom management and communication skills. -
Ability to effectively engage high school students in rigorous mathematical learning. Physical Requirements -
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom and school environment for extended periods. -
Ability to use instructional technology and classroom equipment. -
